Player names on server

REMINDER:

Nicknames are NOT allowed on the server.

In the forum they are fine, but on the server please use a real name.

Aliases are okay, but celebrity/famous driver names are not.

To rename your player name in game, go to your rFactor folder.


Rename your .PLR file, and also rename your player folder within the UserData folder.

Can you be so kind and tell me where is that .plr file? I have tried to search it in all of rFactor folders but with no luck

Go to rFactor folder,then UserData,then you will see a folder with your profile(your in-game name).In that folder there is a .PLR file.Rename that to your name and also dont forget to rename the folder with your in-game name to the same as your .PLR file!
I have already changed mine you can see me as Manos Mountzougiannis in-game!

That is the problem, there is no folder in UserData with my profile, only Controller and ScreenShots, those are the only 2 folders inside UserData. Something went terrible wrong with the installation

If so, I don't recommend doing it.

I have my rFactor installs all on the C:\Games folder and then I create separated folders to each install (rFR, SRD, Mustang, etc) - like for example:

C:\Games\rFactor (rFR S11)

C:\Games\rFactor (SRD)

C:\Games\rFactor (Mustang)

Etc..

rFactor is known for having (crazy) glitches when you install it on the 'ProgramFiles' folder, so try NOT to do it.

Nope, its installed in separate folder as i did it previously. I haven't done anything crazy, uninstalled last rFactor, cleaned everything, installed rFactor again from provided link. Copied rFactor.exe file which is cracked - again from a link provided from last season. Is this OK?

Yes, everything looks ok for what you said, so I don't know why you can't see your driver folder..

My only suggestion now is for you to try and install it again on another folder and see what happens..

Maybe you don't have a drive name folder yet because as you said, your game is crashing before you can even create a profile..

You can simply copy all of your UserData folder from your last season install (in case you still have it) and then make the necessary changes to the driver name after that..

Yeap, last thing Sexy said or just launch rFactor and create new profile, will work good enough. Settings will be lost though

I shouldnt have tried new install....its not working at all, I cant start rFactor, dont know what happened. Tried now with the link you provided Sexy, made again a clean new install but game crashes right after the launch. I even stopped AVG in case he is making problems. I'll try it this week again, tomorrow I wont have time. Shit, shit, shit.

I don't know if AVG has something to do with it, but once again I say:

Get rid of that crap (AVG) and get Avast! - it's the best free anti-virus there is so far.

OK, its working after 3rd install. Looks like SimSync didn't sync correctly although it didn't report any errors, time to practice

When game is entered I don't have any online server to connect, not talking about rFr server (which is also unavailable) , there is 0 servers available. Did someone experience that problem?

I have last year, but played normally last season. I don't know what is happening, since last season I haven't even installed any new program, nothing. Checked PC for viruses and malware - all clean, I will try later today new install again.

Try to run the game in Win XP compatibility mode? It's like the first thing to do in terms of rFactor...

OK, its finally working, after 4th complete install, i haven't done anything different than before, uninstalled, cleaned everything, installed and run SimSync, but this time game is not crashing and I made few laps. Thanks for helping
